Lee Pearson,
Vice President / Chief Information Officer
Lee Pearson is Vice President / Chief Information Officer for Weingarten Realty. In his role, Lee ensures that all uses of technology directly advance Weingarten's long-term business strategies. These responsibilities encompass all computer systems and networks, voice and data communications--whether wired or wireless, as well as support and training for all Weingarten locations.
Lee joined Weingarten in January 2002 as Director of Information Technology. He was named Vice President in December 2003. Prior to joining Weingarten, Lee served in a similar role at Hines Interest for over five years, where among other projects, he lead the design and deployment of one of the first successful, world-wide deployments of a Virtual Private Network ("VPN") over the Internet.
Lee began his career over 25 years ago at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston working in support of a variety of NASA programs including the Space Shuttle. Since then, as an employee or consultant, he has been a leader in utilizing innovative, cost-effective technologies for firms such as TRW, Continental Airlines, Texas Instruments, AT&T, Title USA Insurance, SCI and Hines Interest. His ground-breaking work was recognized by PC World in the late 1990’s and in 2005 Lee was selected as one of the premier 100 IT leaders by Computerworld. He has spoken frequently at industry conferences and his publications include co-authoring CIO Leadership Strategies from Aspatore Books. Lee did graduate work in Economics at Vanderbilt University after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin, with a double major in Plan II and Economics and a minor in Philosophy.
